gives us strength to carry on

little girl of four

should be the other way around

molly’s lost her hair

but not her smile

there’s this bug inside me   you see

have to get rid of it

then my hair will grow

she dances for a little boy    he’s sick too

did you vomit in school?

i did     all over the floor

pet scan   molly’s tears

i get bored lying still

soon be over     pet

i’ll read you a story

mummy   you should have another baby

if I’m not around     you’ll have someone    to love

mummy wipes her eyes     guess what

oh goody   wherever I am   I’ll watch over my  little sister

molly goes to hospital

pink case   barbie doll   fairy wings      a crown

operation’s over

exultation     rogue cells dead

molly      back at school

cradles little sister  face  aglow

shock      relapse

molly smiles   slips away

holding their hands
