pain and doctors
medical lamp glowing red
aching days
despair
chiropractors physiotherapists pills
depression fear a long year
leg agony
tingles pins and needles
thank God i can still walk
but for how long
from my bony skeletal prison I see
others limp wrestle shopping-baskets sticks
doctor cheerful
by thirty you’ll be in a wheelchair
pills beckon escape
a child’s clasping needs
greater than my fear a long year
hope glows with morning
lost in the aching shrivel of afternoon
blessed night
at last
the miracle of sleep
